Overview

The course closes on its most sculptural piece, where a one-carat princess cut and two trillion sides sit in a cathedral setting held not by machined prongs but by flowing, hand-shaped claws. Organic prong work is where measurement gives way to judgment — you build the curve, pipe it, then sculpt each tip by eye until it looks alive. In this project you’ll dial in the cathedral shank parametrically, draw, rebuild and pipe the prong curves, sculpt their claw tips face by face in SubD, and slide rail-only baskets under each stone to finish the collection.

Design a three-stone princess ring using RhinoArtisan.

In this tutorial you will learn how to:

• Dial in a parametric Cathedral shank — Spain, size 14, cathedral width 11.31 mm at 121° — as the sculptural base of the ring.

• Set a one-carat princess cut floating 0.5 mm above the bridge, flanked by two 0.4 ct trillion sides angled to the reference.

• Duplicate the prong guide edges, Blend and Rebuild them to five control points, and Pipe each into 1 mm SubD, kept matched with Reflect.

• Sculpt each prong tip into an organic claw face by face — Split the tip, taper it with the Gumball, and Bridge the top — then mirror across both sides.

• Slide rail-only Baskets (no prongs) under every stone with Apply Style, then finish with cutters and a final Boolean Difference.

By the end of this project, you’ll have the skills to sculpt an organic cathedral prong setting from scratch.
