The most sculptural piece in the collection sets a one-carat stone not in metal prongs bent to fit, but in flowing SubD forms that sweep up from the shank and carry pavé of their own. SubD is what makes those organic prongs possible — and what punishes sloppy edge control with lumpy, uneven surfaces. In this project you’ll build the prongs curve by curve, pipe and bridge them into a continuous SubD structure, sweep the shank, and set side and pavé stones before a custom basket locks the center stone in place.

Design a trillion prongs ring using RhinoArtisan.
In this tutorial you will learn how to:
- Set a one-carat center gem over a US 6.5 ring curve and build the prong guide curves vertex by vertex, Blending them into the offset ring curve.

- Pipe the curves into SubD solids, then Bridge, Reflect and reinforce them with inserted edges into one continuous prong structure.

- Sweep One Rail the shank from duplicated edge curves and set 1.30 mm side gems with Gems on Curve, cutting their seats with Micro Settings and V cutters.

- Add Pavé to the prongs, open every seat with Boolean Difference, and secure the main stone with a custom Basket before a final Boolean Union.

By the end of this project, you’ll have the skills to model a sculptural SubD trillion prongs ring from scratch.
