The signet ring is all presence — a bold domed top that carries weight both visually and literally. The challenge is keeping that presence while making the ring light enough to wear comfortably and economical to cast, which means hollowing it without collapsing the form. This project builds the dome from scratch with Network Surfaces, constructs a 0.8 mm hollowing insert to carve out the inside, and then covers the top in reference-guided pavé.
Design a domed pavé signet ring using RhinoArtisan.
In this tutorial you will learn how to:
- Build a Signet shank and loft its dome from extracted ISO curves with Network Surface.
- Offset everything 0.8 mm inward into a hollowing insert and carve out the body with Boolean Difference, leaving the base structure intact.
- Seed reference stones with Pavé Along Surface, fill the dome with Automatic Pave, and finish with prongs and cutters.
By the end of this project, you’ll have the skills to model a hollowed, domed pavé signet ring from scratch.
