Base Circles and Trim

Objective: Learn how to create the two half circles that will become the infinity shape.

Create the Circle

Go to the “Curve” tab and click on the “Circle” command.

• Type 0 in the command bar and press Enter to create it at the center point.
• Make sure Diameter is selected in the options.
• Type 5.35 mm and press Enter.

Using the gumball from the top view, move the circle -4.35 mm to the left.

Trim Half of It

Create a vertical line at the center of the circle. Make sure OSnap is active so you can select the center points.

Then go to the top view and click on the “Trim” command:

• Select the circle, then the line, and press Enter.
• Click on the right side of the circle to trim it.

You can now delete the line you created.

Mirror

From the top view, go to the “Transform” tab and use the “Mirror” command.

• Type 0 and press Enter to set the center.
• While holding Shift, click on the upper part of the axis.

Select both curves and move them to the user layer of your choice. Return to the four views and use pan, zoom and rotate, then Zoom Extents All to center every view.
