Technical Documentation

A design nobody can read is a design nobody can make. This is the paperwork side of RhinoArtisan: the report sheet a client signs off, the gem and metal lists the setter and the caster work from, the cost breakdown, and the dimensioned drawing the bench needs.

You will find these commands in the ribbon’s Drafting tab. Seven groups, left to right.

Report and layout

• ReportThe report panel: the whole document in one place.
• LayoutThe page the drawing is composed on.
• DetailA viewport on the page, showing the model at its own angle and scale.
• Add LogoYour logo on the sheet.
• TextAnnotation text.

Gem maps

• Gems MapThe map for the whole piece — where every stone goes.
• Gems Map by SelectionThe same for the stones you pick.

Gem lists

• Gem ListEvery stone in the model, by size and quantity.
• Gems List by SelectionThe gem table for only the stones you pick.
• Gems List by Selection GroupsOne gem table per Rhino group in your selection.
• Gems List to ExcelThe same table as a spreadsheet.
• To Excel by SelectionA CSV of only the stones you pick.
• To Excel by Selection GroupsA CSV split into sections by Rhino group.

Metal lists and templates

• Metals ListThe metals in the piece and how much of each.
• Metals List by SelectionThe same for what you pick.
• Open Report TemplateStart from a report layout you saved.
• Save Report TemplateSave this layout so the next piece starts from it.

Breakdowns

• Breakdown MetalsWhat metal the piece uses, and what it costs.
• Breakdown GemsThe same for the stones.

Dimensions

• Linear DimensionDistance between two points.
• Horizontal DimensionWidth, measured along the X axis.
• Vertical DimensionHeight, measured along the Y axis.
• Aligned DimensionTrue distance along a slanted feature.
• Rotated DimensionDistance along an axis you set by angle.
• Angle DimensionThe opening between two directions, in degrees.
• Radial DimensionThe radius of an arc or circle.
• Diameter DimensionThe full width of a circle through its center.
• Center MarkA cross marking the center of a curve.
• Curve DimensionThe length of a curve.
• Volume DimensionThe volume of a solid.
• Dimensions by BoxThe bounding box of the piece, dimensioned.
• Dimensions for RingThe measurements a ring is judged by.
• Dimensions for BangleThe same for a bangle.
• Reduce DimensionsShrink the dimensions to declutter a crowded drawing.

Drawing and sections

• HatchFill a closed region with a pattern.
